Learning Reflection

What are you currently learning about in Social Studies? Give some examples of what you have learned this unit.

We each have our own family members that have been in a major historical event. We interviewed them about their story, researched what we needed and then wrote an essay about it including a reflection.

What do you enjoy about this particular SS unit?  Explain.

I liked learning more about my families history and experiences, because it was very interesting what happened to him and how he reacted.

What do you find challenging about this particular SS unit?  Explain.

I feel like the researching took a lot of time which made it challenging, because I had a few topics I had to research cause my great grandfather went through a lot.

What is something you have done well in this SS unit?  Explain.

I feel like my essay was good because I spent quite a lot of time on it, researching, reflecting, interviewing, and it turned out good.

What is something you would like to improve?  Explain on how you plan to make improvements.

We were supposed to present but we didn't have enough time but I was a little scared about that because I know I'm not the best presentor and I'd like to work on that, by  memorizing what I need to say and rehearsing before so I feel more comftorable whilst presenting.

Reflection

There are two types of people in this world, ones who are truly brave and ones who fake it, my great grandfather is one of the brave men. He went out to fight even though it wasn't for his own country, he fought many battles and then went back to fight for his own country. Then the one day his plane got shot down he didn't just stop fighting, he went off and tried to fight again, but got captured. He then had to go through inhumane treatment and have to see his friends killed and still got home and supported his family. When he came back home he wanted to spend his days with his loved ones and which brought them closer together as a family. They were so glad to have him back all they also wanted to do is spend lots of time with their own family, that closeness has been brought down to my family today. Learning all about this has made me realized that what we have is precious and all of it could be gone in a day, so we need to cherish what we have, and even though my family might annoy me, I know that I love them  in the end and I will never change my mind about that. If I was in the same situation as my great grandfather, I know that I would never be able to be as brave as him I wouldn’t have gone to another country to fight, and if I did fight in my own country I would never be able to go back out after being injured, I would just want to go back to family, which is why I think my great grandfather is so amazing and given my whole family a good perspective in life.
